She’s the Chicago native, who made her movie debut in Ice Cube’s “The Players Club.”
Best known for the role of Neesee in the popular television sitcom “All of Us,” LisaRaye McCoy made national headlines a few years ago for the scandal that followed after she married the former Premier of Turks & Caicos, Michael Misick.
The former first lady, who was embroiled in a bitter divorce, after rumors of infidelity and allegations of illegal behavior surfaced against Misick, is back on the TV circuit with a second season of her reality show “LisaRaye: The Real McCoy.”
“Last year, I was engulfed in the mist of the trenches of the divorce and was trying to figure it all out,” says the actress, “but this year, I am definitely working. My motto has always been B2B [back to business]. I use that as an umbrella approach to everything that I have going on in my life, whether it is back to business, back to living, or back to finances.”
Filmed in Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas and Las Vegas, the nine-episode second season finds the actress trying to re-build, re-brand and re-ignite her acting career. Clad in her trademark white, she has a new line of jeans and is helping to get her teenage daughter’s career get off the ground.
“The biggest misconception people have about me is that I’m a gold digger, because I have dated men whose status is powerful, or men who come from a wealthy background,” says LisaRaye on the public’s perception. “My first job was actually Hollywood, and I’ve never had a 9 to 5. I came from a businessman that owned several different types of businesses and I grew up knowing how to handle business like the back of my hand.”
In addition to LisaRaye, her daughter Kai, her assistant Quincy, and her business associate Tom, the show also includes celebrity appearances by Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tatyana Ali, Bobby Brown, Elise Neal, Nelly, Twista and Rev. Bishop T.D. Jakes.
“We’ve come a long way since we first started taping season one of this show,” LisaRaye continues. “I am very excited to be back with TV One for season two, and to share with viewers, the many exciting developments and blessings in my life over the past year. I’ve had to fight for what I want and deserve, and I hope in some small way I can help inspire people women especially to go after what they want and fight for the life they deserve.”
“LisaRaye: The Real McCoy” is produced for TV One by Evolution Media and airs on TV One Thursday, April 7, at 9PM EST
