Coverage:

After his boss is murdered, Det. Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) once again heads out to Beverly Hills in search of a killer. A series of clues lead Foley to Wonderworld, a California amusement park -- which by picture's end is left in shambles. Surprised?      So is the third time a charm? Not really. The first two Beverly Hills Cop movies sent Eddie Murphy into superstardom because they were fresh, high-energy, funny and of course Murphy is likable. They also worked, because we got to see the conflict between a smart-aleck street-wise cop, and sophisticated low-witted Beverly Hills snobs. The problem with BHC III is there just aren't any new gags. To add insult to injury, Judge Reinhold is the only returning original cast member. This film simply lost the flavor of its predecessors.
While Foley is in Detroit, the film has the potential to be just as good as the first two, but after it shifts to California it seems to fall apart. Admittly the film has high-energy, and a few chuckles, but don't expect to see the successful formula that made the first two films work.
