Mindless?

Yes.

Blood-soaked?

Yes.

Slice and dice?

Definitely.

Wesley Snipes reprises his role as the acrobatic Blade, the half-human, half-vampire samurai sword wielding avenger who, normally, stalks and shreds vampires to mince meat.

However, in this plasma splattered sequel (signaling summer retreads are just around the corner) Blade is recruited into a wary and antagonistic alliance with the vampire nation (called the Bloodpack) to dismember flesh-eating Nosferatu-looking creatures with a vicious expanding lower jaw called Reapers.

The Bloodpack wants the creatures stopped before they can spread a "virus" throughout the world that turns their victims into Reapers.

Leonor Varela (ninja princess Nyssa) is Blade’s love interest, when he’s not terminating Reapers by the bushel.

Snipes over-the-top performance, and solid storytelling by the writers sets "Blade II" apart from the usual Hollywood vampire fodder, such as the recently forgettable "Queen of the Damned."

"Blade II’s" high-octane action sequences are not bad for comic book gore.
