Coverage:
Fresh is clearly an excellent picture. As with Boyz 'N The Hood and Menace II Society, from the opening credits to the end, Fresh is total edge.
Michael, whose street name is "Fresh," is a bright, clever and complex Brooklyn 12-year-old who runs drugs for a dealer until a young girl, whom he has a crush on, is accidentally gunned down in a crossfire. Fresh, who plays speed chess with his estranged father in the local park, uses the same strategies and maneuvers based on what he learned on the chess board to turn the neighborhood drug dealers against themselves.
All the performances are authentic, however, Sean Nelson's performance stands out as riveting. |
